AndBe ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered language learning platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the AndBe mobile application ("App").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
Name — used to personalize your learning experience
Authentication credentials — managed securely through Firebase Authentication or Sign in with Apple

Learning Data

As you use AndBe, we collect:

Language proficiency level — your self-reported CEFR level (A1–C2)
Learning goals — the goals you select during onboarding
Lesson history — records of completed lessons and conversation turns
Badge progress — achievements earned through learning activities

Voice Data

AndBe uses your device's microphone for speech-to-text during lessons. Voice audio is streamed to our speech recognition provider (Deepgram) for real-time transcription and is not stored after processing. We do not retain recordings of your voice.

Purchase Information

In-app purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. We receive confirmation of purchases but do not collect or store your payment details (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). Apple handles all payment processing.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and personalize the language learning experience
Generate AI-powered lesson content tailored to your proficiency level
Track your learning progress and award achievement badges
Manage your account and credit balance
Improve the quality of our AI teachers and lesson content
Send service-related communications (e.g., account verification)

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide AndBe:

Google Cloud Platform — cloud hosting and data storage
Firebase (Google) — authentication and user management
OpenAI / Anthropic — AI language model providers for lesson generation
Deepgram — speech-to-text transcription
Cartesia — text-to-speech voice generation for AI teachers

Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including:

Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS)
Encrypted data storage at rest
Token-based authentication for all API requests
Role-based access controls for internal systems

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction — update or correct inaccurate personal data
Deletion — request deletion of your account and personal data
Export — receive your data in a portable format

7. Children's Privacy

AndBe is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of AndBe after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
